Encounter - The Mysterious Temple

Turn 1

Quietly opening the door, the party attempted to stealthily begin their assault on the final chamber. The sound of Kuros loudly getting to his feet and stomping the ground, combined with his decidedly heavy breathing was too much though, and their foes were able to process the new assault vector a fraction of a second faster than the party anticipated.

Kurogane opened the attack by charging into the room and looking around, attempting to get his bearings on their new environment. Nevi followed this up with a dimensional scramble, but he could feel his psychic power being blocked by the strange energy field. Kuros and Aileia had more success, as both of their attacks found their mark on the first warrior.

Recovering from their surprise, the enemies in the room immediately began their counter attack. Warrior 1 rolled to the side and stood up, preparing to meet these new foes while his brother warrior leaped over the barricade and attacked Nevi, delivering a staggering blow. The lone archer took aim at Aileia, and his arrow struck her in the arm. The final berserker let loose a bellow and charged at Kuros, narrowly missing the great minotaur.

Nevi Tashar

Nevi grinned widely, flashing two rows of white, even teeth. He didn't know who or where he was - only that his body was once again gushing blood and that there were puppets before him ready to dance.

RP
Intent upon clearing out what he perceived as a blight on the world, Kurogane lashed out with a rare display of talent, striking the lone berserker with great force. Nevi followed this up with a surprisingly successful dimensional scramble, sending cultists flying through the spacetime continuum. Unfortunately, his attack removed Kuros' target from in front of him. Kuros' momentum carried him forward however, and his attack instead struck and killed the warrior immediately behind his intended target. Aileia's attack would've been more successful if her target had remained in the land of the living.

The berserker seemed to suffer from a strange panic attack. Turning and running, he fled into one of the strange closets and began pounding on the button inside. "Why isn't it working?!" he cried out. "I don't know," replied the archer, "it only seemed to work for Ratic!" The archer seemed to glow with a deep red power as he fired an arrow at Kurogane while the remaining warrior lashed out at Nevi, nearly ending his life.

Walking towards the warrior intending to finish Nevi off, Kurogane [insert result of AoO here], then calmly said,"Now I've got your attention, pick someone your own size." Then he struck out as fierce as a cobra

Sensing danger, Kurogane whizzed across the room and unleashed an attack on the warrior assaulting poor Nevi, right as Nevi retreated into a psychic barrier. Kuros also attempted to hit the warrior in question, but his clumsy efforts to adjust his great girth to a small corner proved fruitless. Aileia attacked the lone archer, striking it with magic.

Recovering from his surprise, the berserker immediately turned and charged Aileia, but his attack missed by a fair margin. The archer also missed his intended target, while the remain warrior desperately tried to extricate himself from between Kuros, Kurogane, and a barricade.

Tasting victory, the party lashed out with another series of attacks. Kurogane displayed a rare feat of cognizance and martial prowess, landing a critical flurry of blows in the remaining warrior, who staggered under the barrage. Nevi and Kuros both missed their intended targets, while Nevi slowly edged towards the door with a frantic look on his face. Aileia, angry at the apparent wanton destruction being perpetrated by the berserker, lashed out against him.

Desperation clearly evident in their eyes, the remaining enemies returned the attack with less than equal fervor. The warrior shifted around to try and cut off Nevi's escape, narrowly missing the deranged psion. The berserker attempted to intervene as well, missing Aileia in the process. The archers shot went into a completely alternate dimension.

DM's Note: With the remaining enemies close to death, I am going to call the encounter a little earlier than normal. I don't know when I'll have access to my actual computer tomorrow so I'd prefer to transition into a role play setting for the time being where I can moderate things from a distance. WE'RE STILL USING THIS THREAD THOUGH.

Teetering on the brink of death, all it took was one blow from Kuros to finish off the remaining warrior. The remaining enemies proved no trouble for the party to finish. The energy field dissipates with the death of the archer.

This encounter was worth 500 xp, or 167 xp each.

Nevi Tashar

Nevi tucked the orb away and gingerly poked the bodies. "Careful," he whispered, "they'll kill us again with half a chance." His Tashar noted with some distress that his Nevi soul was still mostly in control. A mind thrust shot into the corpse of a nearby warrior, shattering its brain. Nevi giggled. "Silly puppet!"

His steps left bloody footprints, to which he paid no heed.

Standing at the middle of the ring pattern, Kurogane stomped on the floor, trying to figure out how big the hollow is.
