Antechamber
You enter into a small antechamber. The pillars reach up to the ceiling, and each one is covered with strange runes. There are five enemies in the room, two of them (the purple numbers) are wielding bows and leather armor. The remaining three bear swords and shields. There are three doors in this room excluding the exit, one large one at the back and two smaller ones leading presumably to side rooms.

The warrior's shields are emblazoned with a red sun, while their armor is a mix of red and black colors. The archers are similarly outfitted, though they do not bear shields.

The Hallways of Doom
The room is mostly empty, save for the two large warriors clad in simple leather armor standing towards the end of the hallway. They have the image of the red sun emblazoned on their bald foreheads.

There is a lever about two spaces west of the warriors. The North wall is covered in a lavish mural depicting three standing figures that appear human. The center one is holding an orb up to the sky while the two figures to his left and right and staring at it in awe. Above the orb is an image that appears to be a map of Valeya and its three sister shards, outlined by a circle containing all four shards.

The South Hall contains an identical mural on the southernmost wall, with three cultists similar to the ones encountered in the antechamber. The archer appears to be standing behind some kind of green barrier, plainly visible.

The Ring Room
Before you is a large central chamber. Two warriors stand poised behind a pair of equal barricades positioned to defend them against an assault from the antechamber. An archer and a berserker are behind a green energy field. The entire floor is emblazoned with an image of similar fashion to the murals in the other two rooms, but instead of Valeya, an image of Vorenthal itself stands in the center.

There is a circular pattern on the floor in the back of the room, raised approximately half an inch off the floor. Behind it and to the south is a large red crystal, similar in fashion to those found on the doors, but there is no symbol at its center. Two small closet-like rooms are to the south and north of ring pattern. They both have open doors in front of them that appear to retract into the walls. The door to the southern hallway appears locked, judging by the red crystal.

Return to the South
The hallway is exactly the same as you remember it. The cultists inside are ready for you, though they didn't expect you to come through the door that you did. A familiar green energy field hums in the room, similar to the one that used to exist in the ring room. You aren't sure what the wailing noise coming from beneath Kurogane means. The two red numbers, as before, are wielding swords and shield, while the purple number has a bow and a short sword.

"You are my puppets!" Nevi hissed, extending a clawed hand toward the center of the chamber. Lines blurred and blended together as the fabric of reality itself was diluted.

(Standard) Dimensional Scramble: Burst 1 Attack originating in the square occupied by Red 1.

Red 2: 13

On hit: 1d6+5 damage. Teleport Red 1 northwest, and Red 2 East.

RP:

A wide grin spreads across Kuros' face. He raises his greataxe high and charges his enemies swinging his blade brutally down.

Technical:

Kuros charges 2 to the east (His ac when charging is 16) He uses howling strike on 2 rolling 24 vs AC and (if he hits) dealing 21 damage. If the enemy is reduced to 0 hp he will continue his charge and execute the same attack against the green 2, which would be a crit fail on hit.

Defenses:

AC: 14 (16 when charging)
Fort: 16
Refl: 11
Will: 16

The party entered the temple with a bang. Kuros immediately let loose a grin and charged the nearest warrior, dealing a devastating blow that bloodied the man instantly. The attack did cost him a swipe from the nearby warrior though. His party mates were not so deft however, as all of their attacks were dodged by their intended targets. Mounting a counter attack, the cult warriors immediately attempted to shift into positions of superiority, flanking the great minotaur between them. Neither of their attacks landed however as Kuros' armor proved resilient enough for the job. Nevi was not so lucky, suffering some minor damage from the third warrior as he emerged from behind the rune-covered pillar. Both archers attempted to hit Kurogane, but in their clumsiness the first archer snapped his bow while the second one managed to almost hit his partner.

Technical

Kuros - Took 11 damage from opportunity attack. Dealt 21 damage to warrior 2, bloodying him.
Nevi - Missed twice, then shifted.
Kurogane - Missed as well

Cult Warrior 1 - Shifted into a flanking position, then missed Kuros
Cult Warrior 2- Also missed Kuros, but did not move
Cult Warrior 3 - Charged and dealt 4 damage to Nevi
Archer 1 - Missed Kurogane, scoring a critical fail and damaging his bow, rendering it useless
Archer 2 - Missed Kurogane.

Nevi pressed his back against the wall and babbled in terror. "NO!" He clutched his wounded arm. "NOT! TODAY!" The orb flashed with blinding light, giving him a brief moment to crush the mind of his foe.

Minor: Use Distract on the adjacent foe (Cult Warrior 3), causing him to grant CA to next creature that attacks it and giving me +3 bonus to next damage roll against it.

Standard: Mind Thrust on (Cult Warrior 3). 21 vs Will/13 psychic damage. This provokes an opportunity attack from (Cult Warrior 3). Augment 1 causes target to take -3 penalty to Will defense until end of my next turn.

Move: Shift 1 east.

18 HP, 1 power point used.

Kuros doges deftly to the side, and begins to batter repeatedly at his his opponent.

Move: Shit 1 southwest

Standard: Batter Down on red 1. 18 vs AC. If hit, 15 damage and knocks target prone.

If he kills the target he will gain 7 temp hp, he will then Swift Charge Kuros will charge 3 east and attack 1 with Howling Strike which would crit for 22 damage. If he dies Kuros will gain 7 temp hp.

Standard: Five Storms to each enemy he can see in close burst 1, 18 against (archer 1), 8 against (warrior 2) vs Reflex. Damage: 8

Pressing his attack, Kuros continued to use his brute force to batter down the warriors attempting to flank him. He managed to knock one target to the ground while dealing a fair amount damage. Nevi thrust out with his mind to both distract and damage his opponent, narrowly dodging the retaliatory strike that resulted from spellcasting in such close quarters. Kurogane's boisterous declaration apparently fell on deaf ears, but his fist was more convincing, driving a hole in one of the archers while narrowly missing the adjacent warrior. The backlash from the attack still seemed to damage the warrior though, as he hobbled forward to continue his blind assault on Kuros.

Recovering from his prone position, the first warrior barely dodged Kuros' swipe as he stood up. He then proceeded to drive his shield into Kuros, knocking him back a square as the warrior took up his former position. Warrior 2 moved to cut off the minotaur from the rest of his party, but missed with his sword swipe. Both archers again attempted to hit Kurogane, and this time Archer 1 managed to connect with the monk using a shortblade he drew from his side.

Technical

Kuros - Dealt 15 damage to Warrior 1, knocking him prone after shifting into a more desirable position.
Nevi - Dodged opportunity attack, dealt 13 damage to Warrior 3, reducing his will.
Kurogane - Dealt 8 damage to Archer 1, missing the second warrior but still dealing 3 damage to him

Warrior 1 - Stood up, dodging opportunity attack. Dealt 9 damage to Kuros and knocked him back 1 square
Warrior 2 - Missed Kuros
Warrior 3 - Dealt 8 damage to Nevi, snarled menacingly
Archer 1 - Hit Kurogane with a short sword for 8 damage
Archer 2 - Missed with a Longbow

After receiving check result: Kurogane warns his partners (or at least who he thinks is his partner in this purge of the cult): Guys, I think I hear something deeper there,

Move: Five Storms : shift SE, then S

Standard: Bull Rush (Archer 2) 7 vs Fort. Shifts it into the gate behind it if succeeds, and shift into the square it occupied.

If Bull Rush succeeded: Kurogane shout: Let's see what you've got to hide

HP=18, encounter power Open the Gate of Battle used

Kuros spins wildly around the pillar swinging his weapon at his enemy. Realizing his strength is leaving him, Kuros unleashes a superhuman bellow which makes him feel much better.

Standard: Pressing Strike Before attack Kuros shifts SW > NW. 11 vs AC. If it hits 6 damage.

!!ACTION POINT!! Kuros spends his Second Wind. +2 to all D.

HP: 16
Surges left: 10

Bleeding profusely, Nevi draws back behind a pillar to catch his breath. "We have died," he whispers. "We have all died." Even as he speaks, the center of the chamber begins to blur and collapse around him.

Move: Shift 1 southeast.

Standard: Dimensional Scramble augment 1 targetting square 3,2 (3 south 2 east from top left corner). This creates attacks against (Warrior 1) and (Warrior 2) vs Fort.

Warrior 1: Crit, 11 damage, teleport 1 southwest.
Warrior 2: 19, 6 damage, teleport 1 east.

With a bellow, Kuros deftly shifted around the pillar to attack and nearly kill the first warrior. Unfortunately, Nevi's dimensional rift hit at that exact moment, sending his target flying into Kuros' space. The minotaur was knocked back but managed to hold his footing. On the other side of the room, Kurogane shouted at his friends before charging headfirst into the second archer, earning a sword swipe from the first. The second archer dodged to the side, leaving the monk flying into the door head first. The door resisted the collision.

Drawing his shortsword as well, the second archer attempted to take advantage of the moment of confusion by swinging at Kurogane, while the second warrior limped helplessly forward in an effort to stall his inevitable death.

Technical

Kuros - Missed his target after shifting around the pillar, used second wind
Nevi - Dealt 11 damage to warrior 1, and 6 damage to warrior 2, teleporting both. Warrior 1 was teleported into Kuros who succeeded in an acrobatics save.
Kurogane - Took 8 damage from an opportunity attack, then missed a bull rush on archer two, causing him to charge into the door (no actual in game effect)

Warrior 1 - Dealt 7 damage to Kuros
Warrior 2 - Staggered forward, apparently barely holding on to life
Warrior 3 - Dealt 5 damage to Nevi
Archer 1 - Missed Kurogane with a short sword
Archer 2 - Also missed Kurogane with a short sword

"No more chasing!" Nevi shouts at the oncoming warrior. Things have gotten desperate. Nevi plants his feet and extends his bloodied hands. A warm yellow glow emanates from the orb and washes over his pursuer.

Move: Shift 1 NE.

Standard: Living Missile (Warrior 3). 20 vs Fort. Immobilize on hit, slow on miss (save ends either). No damage. Until he saves, he is my living missile.

Minor: Living Missile Attack (Warrior 3) slides E>S>S>W>W>N, making an attack on (Warrior 2). I use an ACTION POINT to raise the roll to 18 vs Reflex.

If I hit, (Warrior 2) takes 13 damage and falls prone. (Warrior 3) takes 6 damage and falls prone.
If I miss, (Warrior 2) takes 6 damage and (Warrior 3) falls prone.

Standard: Five Storms, 17 against (archer 1), 13 against (archer 2), vs Reflex. 10 damage if hit. Stone Fist Flurry of Blows if hits any, targeting (archer 1) and dealing 3 damage.

Move: Five Storms, shift 2 W

Minor: Dungeneering, 20, trying to figure how to open that gate, share immediately if he came up with anything

Taking two cautious steps back, Kurogane stares at the gate, deep in thought

Kuros looks deep into the eyes of his enemy chuckling. "Your friends have abandoned you to die" With a fiendish howl, he attacks.

Minor: Intimidate, 20, Kuros will say "Your friends have abandoned you to die" in an attempt to get his enemy to look around, granting him combat advantage.

Standard: Howling Strike 23 vs AC. 14 damage.

Reaction if warrior 1 dies: + 7 temp hp. Swift Charge Kuros will charge N+N+E and attacking warrior 2 with Howling Strike 25 vs AC. 18 damage.

Aileia looks around the corner into the darkened interior of the antechamber, sensing the reverberations of battle echo through the stone. Nearby, a warrior stands ready to strike a great monster standing before him, pinned in the corner. Deeper in the darkness, she spots several other of these red-clad guardians attacking what seem to be explorers. Going by the amount of blood on each person, the explorers seemed to be losing. Drawing on the energy Aileia can feel through the open doorway, she quickly enchants a bolt and shoots it at the nearest warrior.

Standard: Halo of Thorns (Warrior 1). 16 vs. AC. 14 damage if hit.

The poison enchantment reaches Kuros. Until the end of Aileia's next turn, any creature that hits him with melee takes 3 poison damage.

Move: None.

Minor: Healing Infusion: Curative (Nevi). Healing surge + 3 heal.

"Your friends have abandoned you," screamed Kuros as he swung his mace into the warriors face. The man crumpled to the ground, and Kuros let loose a bellow while charging at the next warrior, downing him in one deft motion. At that moment, the third warrior came screeching through the square formerly occupied by warrior 2, coming to a rest just above a newcomer. The newest combatant appears to be a female human, but there is definitely something alien about her movements and nature. With a concentrated expression, she waved her hands towards where Kuros was a mere fraction of a second before. Green thorns spring forth and strike the square with the now deceased warrior 1. Meanwhile, on the other end of the room, Kurogane let loose a flurry of blows, striking archer 1 while narrowly missing his partner.

Landing with a thud, warrior 3 seemed to shake off the apparent mind control of Nevi, while the two archers circled around to flank the monk as he stared at the doorway at the end of the hall.

Technical
Kuros - Killed Warrior 1 and 2
Nevi - Living Missile succeeded, but could not hit warrior 2
Kurogane - dealt 10 damage to archer 1, plus 3, missed archer 2

With a shout of delight Kuros heaves his greataxe above his head in celebration of his 2 kills. Then, he charges.

Minor: Intimidate 25, Kuros will heave his greataxe above his head a la Pyro in TF2.

Standard: Kuros will charge E NE and attack 1 with Howling Strike 21 vs AC. 16 damage.

Temp HP: 14 (from the 2 kills)
HP: 9
Surges Left: 10

Standard: Five Storms, 11 against (archer 1), 15 against (archer 2), dealing 9 damage. If attack hits any, deal 3 extra damage with Stone Fist Flurry of Blows to (archer 2)

Guys!! I think that gate is locked, anyone knows how to get it open? Guys!!! FOCUS ON THAT GATE!!!! If we want to purge this cult, we'll need to get the head of this monster, there's no time for the minions!!!!

Move: Shift NW, then N, using Five Storms

And for the moment you've been waiting for, ACTION POINT!!!!

Standard (action point): Healing Word, targeting self, allowing me to spend a healing surge, and gain an extra 6 health. Gaining 12 health in total

Amaterasu!! Grant me strength!!!

Extra: Guardian's Counter triggers when the next attack that hits either Nevi or Kuros, acting towards whoever is closer to dying, both Kurogane and the teammate shift up to 2 squares to swap position, and Kurogane takes the hit. If the attack is ranged, Kurogane will do a Ranged Basic Attack 6 against AC, towards the attacker, dealing 6 damage. If melee, it'll be a Melee Basic Attack, criting at 8 damage.

Aileia huffs in frustration as the warrior collapses at her feet under the frenzied blow of the shaggy creature, who then immediately runs off and bashes in the other warrior's head. Left alone with a single enemy remaining, she stands her ground and prepares a spell.

Standard: Aggravating Force 20+4 vs. AC. 12 damage on hit.

The warrior stumbles backwards, giving an advantage of +2 power to any attack roll made against him until the end of Aileia's next turn.

Move: None.

Minor: Healing Infusion: Curative (Kurogani). Healing surge + 3.

Aileia shouts to the battle-drunk boy trying to break down the door. (12 Diplomacy check) "Boy, quit with that door! A temple like this will have all sorts of traps--LEAVE IT ALONE."

Free: Use Vulnerability 3+9 Arcana check. Success grants Aileia a +4 power bonus to all defenses against the warrior's attacks and a +4 power bonus to damage rolls against him.

The weight of his recent victories behind him, Kuros surged forward delivering a crushing blow to the first archer, who crumpled under the show force. Nevi took a step back to catch his breath, while Kurogane again missed his intended targets. The newcomer was more successful, delivering a forceful display of magic that killed the remaining warrior. Now with a clear advantage, the party dispatched the remaining enemies.

Technical

As the final archer dies, the symbols on the pillars light up, as well as some lights in the room the party didn't know were present. Soft florescent light floods the room as the door quickly closes behind the latest entrant.

Kuros sits down letting out a sigh of satisfaction, and begins bandaging his wounds while muttering to himself. When he finishes he looks around the room.

"What now?"


Kuros uses 3 healing surges. He is up to full health.

Nevi puts his hands on his knees and lets out a ragged gasp.

1 Healing Surge, full HP restored.

Then looks around at the doors, whispering "More puppets are coming ..."

Perception Check 9 to see if anyone else is coming.

If he thinks no one is coming, he loots the bodies gingerly while whispering "The puppets ... the puppets ..."
If he thinks someone is coming, he shouts: "THE PUPPETS!" And positions himself 1 square in from the door.
